Punjab government has come up with a new budget for 2025-26 with a 10% pay increase for existing government employees and a 5% increase in pension of pensioners.

Apart from that, the province has also increased its development expenditure by 47.2% by allocating Rs. 1,240 billion for different projects. Another Rs. 171.7 billion has been allocated for foreign-funded projects. Recurring expenditure, however, has increased moderately by 5.9% to Rs. 2,026.7 billion.

On the other hand, spending on service delivery has come down by 5.8%, for which Rs. 679.8 billion has been provided.

Even education has seen greater attention, with the provincial spending on education increasing by 21.2% to Rs. 811.8 billion, reflecting the government’s concern to enhance educational facilities and services.
