The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, an organization backed by the United States and Israel as an alternative to UN-led aid efforts, has alleged that Hamas fighters killed five of its employees and injured several others in an assault on a bus heading to a food distribution site, according to Al Jazeera.
In a statement, the foundation reported that a bus transporting over two dozen Palestinian aid workers was “violently ambushed” while traveling to a distribution facility west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Although the group is still investigating the incident, it confirmed that “at least” five staff members were killed and many others wounded. There are also concerns that some employees may have been taken hostage.
Hamas has not yet responded to these allegations.
Earlier this week, the Palestinian group denied accusations from the foundation that it had issued “direct threats” against the organization’s operations.
