The Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced a decline against major currencies, including the US Dollar (USD) and the British Pound (GBP), in Monday’s trading session.

Throughout the day, the interbank exchange rate remained stable between 282-283 per USD before settling at 283. Open market pricing, meanwhile, ranged from 285-287. The currency closed weaker after showing a downward trend against the USD. During the trading session, the PKR also lost ground versus other important international currencies.

The rupee spent the majority of the day trading close to 390 against the GBP, finishing between 388 and 389. The PKR depreciated by 0.07% against the USD, shedding 20 paisas to end at 283.17. On a fiscal year-to-date (FYTD) basis, the currency has weakened by 1.36% versus the USD.

Performance Against Other Currencies

The PKR struggled against all major currencies in the interbank market. It declined by six paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED) and eight paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR).

Furthermore, the rupee dropped 85 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD) and 74 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD). It also faced significant losses against the Euro (EUR), falling by Rs. 1.45, and dipped 91 paisas against the GBP.
